召飯帖 A dinner party for poets

薛紹彭，長安（今陝西西安）人。生卒年月不詳。北宋書法家。宋神宗時人。字道祖，號翠薇居士。恭敬公薛向之子，以翰墨名世。自謂河東三鳳後人。官至秘閣修撰，出為梓桐槽。家藏晉、唐法書，名畫甚多，與米芾每以鑒賞相高，得以計較。工正、行、草書，筆致清潤遒麗，具晉、唐人法度。與米芾齊名，人稱「米薛」。

Inside Story

Hsueh Chaopeng was invited by Mi Fu to a dinner party, it was a get-together occasion for poets. Hsueh Chaopeng brought some calligraphy artwork which he purchased unintentionally to the party. They appreciated the artwork and exchanged thoughts. In the letter Hsueh Chaopeng also asked his friend not to turn down invitations to such an occasion.
