此信是蘇洵向任提舉監丞的友人說明自己的近況。兩人都往南走，因此蘇洵希望可以同遊鄱陽湖，但是因為種種原故(主要是怕引起政敵注意)，加上兩人身體都有些小病，所以蘇洵一方面說明自己行進的路線，一方面預計友人的路線，期望兩人可以會合而同遊鄱陽湖。 |

【釋文】
|
洵頓首再拜：昨日道中，草草上記，方以為懼。介使口武，伏奉教翰，所以眷藉勤厚，見於累紙。感服情眷，愧作益甚。晨興薄涼，伏惟台候萬福。洵以病暑加眩，意思極不佳。所以涉水迂塗，不敢入城府者，畏人事也。寵諭常每每行，仰戢愛與之重，深欲力疾少承緒言，但聞台候不甚清快，冒暑遠行非宜。兼水浸道塗，恐今晚亦未能至彼，虛煩大旆之出。曷若相忘於江湖，不過廿日後，便可承顏。或同塗為鄱陽之行，如何更幾見察幸甚，匆匆拜此，不宣。洵頓首再拜提舉監丞兄台坐 |

A letter to a friend

Inside Story This is a letter Su Hsun wrote about his recent condition to his friend who held the official position of Tiehchu. Both of them were traveling to south, Su Hsun hoped they could travel together to Poyang Lake. However due to various reasons (mainly afraid of getting the attention of their political enemies), and both of them were not in perfect health condition, hence Su Hsun explained his travel route to the friend and also planed travel route for his friend. He hoped they could meet each other and visited Poyang Lake together.
