這是蔡襄給友人陳茂才的信件。主要在說陳茂才即將要前往京師，而先通知了蔡襄，想要了解京師大致的情形，蔡襄便回信說明自己本來就對一些人事上的事情不是很熱衷，而自己也是最近才到京師，也就是說其實能提供的幫助並不多，但是還感謝茂才的專程來信。 |

襄前曾手啟，寓程僕還，當得通左右也。賢弟來都，備聞君侯動靖。山居經年，寂寥曷以為懷。僕近至京，適有人事，今亦少空。疏懶之人，遇此殊非所樂耳。專奉啟為謝。十月廿六日，不宣。 襄再拜茂才陳弟足下謹空 |

Inside Story This is a letter written to Chen Maotsai by Tsai Chsiang. Chen Maotsai told Tsai Chsiang in advance he was going to the capital and would like to know overall condition in the capital. Tsai Chsiang replied him that he was not familiar with personnel matters. He had just arrived the capital, he was afraid he could not offer enough assistance but he thanked Chen Maotsai for writing the letter.
