Letter about southern rivers of China

Letter about southern rivers of China

Yen Chenching, Tang Dynasty

Inside Story

This is a letter Yen Chenching wrote to a friend. The Two Lake area is where southern rivers of China eventually flow into. Huchou is near to the Poyuan Lake and that’s why Yen Chenching considered the altitude of Huchou was rather low. Rivers of other areas flow into Huchou before they run into Ti Lake, as a result, crop seedlings are submerged in water before they have chance to grow up. It was relieved to know Liu Shang Shu was supervising in that area when the flood happened. Folks felt secured, in consequence, there was no disturbance took place during the period of flooding.
