糧院發生了某件事情，因為需要釐清事情發生原委及責任歸屬，所以向高層發了封公文，希望協助調查。米芾這封信則是向高層的人說這是為了公務，所以發這封公文是不得已的事情，不是存心和上層作對。 |

【賞析】
|
大體而言，在古代的官場上，階級是很分明的，下層的官管不到上層的事，如果是上層發生了問題，只能由更上層的人來解決，下層的官是沒有權限與能力去處理。所以，如果下層官吏所處理的事情牽涉到上層，除了在形式上有公文傳遞之外，還會說明的信件，表示絕無冒犯之意。 |

|
芾再啟:歷子倅車，送去糧院。欲推過他人，不枉其責。儻糧院知於法無礙，即自勘。使句院自口口處，即求直之端也。度此事必辨於上下乃已，幸左右明察。公文非得已也，或攜示倅佳。 芾皇恐 |

Inside Story Something happened at the Department of Food Administration; the cause and ascription of responsibility must be investigated. Mi Fu forwarded an official document to offer his assistance in the investigation to his superior. He explained he was doing it based on his official duty, and he had no intention to disobey the superior.
