這封信是東坡接到好友伯誠去逝的消息後，寫信給另外的好友，告訴其內心的傷痛，並且說明不去弔喪的理由是擔心他的家人正在忙著治喪，東坡如果這個時候去，只會增加他們的麻煩，只好請朋友送去一擔酒，表達心中的難過。 |

Inside Story This was a letter Tungpo wrote to another friend while hearing the death of a good friend. In the letter he expressed his grief and explained that he would not pay his condolence to the family because they were busy in making funeral arrangements. If he went it would only bring them inconvenience, therefore, he had a friend send over some wine to deliver his sorrow to the family.
