鍾繇字元常，穎川長社人。獻帝初舉孝廉，曆尚書郎、陽陵令，以疾去，辟三府，為廷尉正黃門侍郎。及遷許，拜禦史中丞，遷侍中尚書僕射，封東武亭侯。尋以侍中守司隸校尉，督關中諸軍。魏國建，為大理，遷相國。文帝即王位，復為大理，及受禪，改廷尉，進封崇高鄉侯，遷太尉，轉封平陽鄉侯。明帝即位，進封定陵侯，遷太傅。太和四年卒，諡曰成侯。

Inside Story

Chung Yao wrote a recommendation to Emperor Tsao Pi for an old courtier named Chi-Chih who had made great contributions for the establishment of the Tsao regime. Life was rather difficult for Chi-Chih after being released from the regime, yet he was still in good health and Chung Yao plead Tsao Pi for granting Chi-Chih an position so that he could continue his contribution to the regime again as well as come off the hard situation.
